The Management Board is composed of representatives of EU Member States and the European Commission. Associated Countries (Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein) as well as Eurojust, Europol, Frontex and the EPPO are also represented.
Its role is to ensure that the Agency delivers the tasks and results as stipulated in the Agency's establishing regulation in the most cost-effective way, taking into account the strategic goals and objectives of the Agency. As such, it focuses on the following high-level tasks:
Ensuring confidence that the Agency mandate is being, and can be, delivered and developed coherently and effectively to meet all stakeholder and user requirements.
Directing the effective and coherent delivery of the eu-LISA vision.
Ensuring the development of a robust system of internal control.
Chairperson
As of 21 June 2024, the Chairperson of the Management Board is Mr Rene Vihalem (Estonia) and the Deputy Chairperson is Ms Hanna De Backer (Belgium).
The previous Chairpersons of the eu-LISA MB were Mr Zsolt Szolnoki (Hungary, 2018-2024), Mr Filip Pynckels (Belgium, 2014-2018), and Mr Matthias Taube (Germany, 2012-2014).
